Although the author is not a writer, yet he wrote this book because being an advanced Kriyaban, he can deeply delve into the complete being an advanced Kriyabad, he can deeply delve into the complete subject matter. Eventually, I have been satisfied going through the whole book. Aged Kriyabad Subodh Chandra Mukherjee and another Kriyaban Prabir Kumar Dutta have rendered financial assistancde at the time of publication of the Bengali first edition of this book and A.K.Sen has rendered active assistanc e in many ways, I tender my heartiest blessings to all these Kriyabans. It would not have been possible for me to accomplish this noble task at the ripe age of seventy-seven years if He had not showered His grace.

The earliest Vedic hymns testify already to a high degree of linguistic awareness of its authors. It appears for example in the play on the etymology of words. Thereafter, while the language seems to evolve relatively little, the knowledge of its structures develops considerably. Conservatism and linguistic awareness seem to go hand in hand. That could only have increased the distance between the ‘popular’ language of the non-specialists and the language of the experts in religion, since the former is always capable of a spontaneous evolution.
